Week 10 October 17-October 23, 2017

Hello my friends!

Can´t believe how fast the time has flown.  At the end of the next cambio (cambio is a transfer cycle)  I will have 6 months in the Mission!  Aghh.  when I think about that the time seems so short.  This cambio ends next week and then I will be done with my in-field training.  That means I have to lead the sector this week.  Lead the planning, lead the lessons, coordinate with members.  It seems like a lot, but I have a good comp and I am learning a lot about faith.  God doesn´t care so much about the place we are at so much as the effort we are giving.  If we are giving the effort, He can work with that and make up the rest.
We went to the caves today for Pday and that was really great.  It is really pretty, there are tidal pools and wild lizards and crabs and all sort of things.  And also no people so it is a little expensive to get there, but worth the trip.  I would post pictures but my card reader is with another missionary right now.  Next week I will send a lot more pictures. We worked a lot in the same area that I spoke about in the last email and found a dead kitten (there is a picture of that too!) [Editor's note: I took out the picture of the dead kitten]  But in serio, there are a lot of people that live there in really humble conditions and we are hoping to find a lot of people who are ready to hear our message.  We did meet this 73 year old  devout catholic that we are going to baptize this Saturday.  His first wife ran off with a catholic priest 30+ years ago and he has been attending only because of his devotion to Christ.  This guy know the Bible inside and out.  The time is really picking up and we are staying busy.

Hope all is doing well with ya´ll.  20 months left!

Sept. 26 - Oct. 2, 2017 Week 7

Hey all!   Crazy week and I don`t have a lot of time to write.  My computer that is in the internet cafe is super slow and wasted a lot of my time :) so forgive me.      I got a new comp.  He is Chilean and is 23 years old.  Turns out my 2nd or 3rd or 4 cousin, no sé, but someone related to me was the hermana that converted him.  We get along great and he really knows how to go about doing the Lord´s Errand.        Conference was super great!  I hope you all had a chance to listen to it this weekend and if not, it's on  lds.org .  Just a few highlights that I picked upe was the need to focus more on Christ.  All light comes from Christ and we really can´t develop any Christlike attribute or I  guess improve at all unless we focus on Him and act out of our desire to become more like He is.  I also learned a little bit about obedience to the commandments in my personal study this ...

Sept 19-25, 2017 Week 6

Hey all, Sorry I haven´t written recently.  It has been a really busy couple of weeks.  My language is improving slowly but surely and I even have a hard time saying the english equivalent of some words.  We didn´t have anyone to cook lunch for us this week so we had to cook for ourselves. My comp can cook pretty well and  on Wednesday  he asked me to fry some chicken and cook rice.  I failed at both.  The rice was hard because I didn´t add enough water.  Also all that I knew for cooking chicken is to put in in the oil.  Apparently you have to score it too so that all parts are cooked.  And the chicken here comes with the stubs of feathers in the skin and I didn´t cut those parts out.  So it was a pretty crap meal.  But ahora, I am confident 75 percent that I could do it again and have it turn out well. This gospel is true.  I have learned a lot here that I can´t even begin to describe.  I am working better wi...

August 29 - September 4 2017 Week 3

Hello all! Hope all is doing well with you guys.  Today was a different week than most.  We had a zone conference which was really good.  I understood practically everything up until the President asked me a question.   Always seems to work out that way. LOL   Got sick from some water last night.  It was a really small amount but that was sufficient to make for a less than ideal morning.  I got some medicine and it is starting to work.  We also went to the beach and took a few pictures.  We were just there to give a priesthood blessing, but we took advantage of the opportunity (we just took a picture).   Also found an Air Force PT jacket in the market so that reminded me of ya'll in ROTC with me this past year!   I learned a lot this week about unity in the companionship and hope.    Oftentimes we can feel challenged more than we are capable of handling.  and sometimes that is true, but it is only through t...
