part of new area

We had a really cool week last week and found a lot of people.  We brought 7 to church yesterday so I was able to leave Elder Burton with a lot of work.  With it being Consejo de Liderazgo on Thursday, the district leaders are invited, so actually the guy I am replacing here is staying until Thursday and we'll be in a trio.

Well, cambios have passed by again which means I am entering the 4th quarter of the mission.  All the sisters from my group go home today and tomorrow so it's a new phase of the mission. I also got transfer calls on Friday and now I will be writing y'all from Antofagasta.  It's not as pretty as Iquique but a lot bigger!  My sector, from what I can see, is hills and tomas( shanty towns or slums) so that should be exciting.  I will miss Iquique and the people there.
I will be finishing the training of Elder Baines who is from elder Burtons group. I am now a stepdad to use the mission terms. It should be pretty cool cambioElder Baines is dope and is from Canada. He talks a lot about maple syrup, moose, and hockey eh. Just kidding!

It has been a really good week with my new comp.  We have been discovering the sector together.  We were working really hard this week and it has has been a little tough only because a lot of people are leaving on summer vacation. Also, the hills are killer and we hardly walk on anything other than dirt and rocks.  I love it.  Makes me feel like I am really roughing it like a missionary and I am sweating like crazy.
Today for Pday we played soccer with President because he lives in our zone and he goes hard. My legs are dead, haha.  Another perk of being in the zone of the mission office is that we can get the mail whenever we want, and sometimes we get rides to places.
So we had a fire week learning together (my comp is just six weeks in the mission) so we are meeting and doing a lot of figuring out. haha.
This week was a whirlwind with so many things happening. We had to see the missionaries that were going home stay in our pension, then the new missionaries stayed in our pension, then we had to go to consejo de liderazgo and then some interviews and ended with a baptism.  Also got a package (family says its the last one) and just had a good time sweating under the summer sun.
We have a lot of new people to start teaching.  We tried more than anything to focus on finding and it paid off.

I love my mission and I love helping people come unto Christ.  He is the way.  With the new year, I invite you to think of new ways to make it a more central part of life. Hope you all have a happy new year

October 31 -November 6, 2017 Week 12

Hey Guys,        Transfers were this week and I found out that I am going to .............................. .......stay.  Yup I am going remain here in Arica for another 6 weeks with Elder Campos.  I am actually pretty happy about it because the work is really picking up over here.  We were able to baptize a super awesome family of 4 this past  saturday  and we have another family of 3 to baptize  this Saturday .  The Lord is blessing the work over here and I get to be a part of it.  Sorry I don´t have a lot of time to write a whole lot, but I do want yall to know that the work is true and that families can be together forever.  One of our converts received the Priesthood this  Sunday and it was really cool for me because it is the next step for him to salvation and to be sealed with his family.  We also were able to find some new people and also the ward is becoming super supportive.  We just need mo...

Oct. 3 -Oct. 10 Week 8

Hello Everyone       I have had a great week and I hope it was the same for ya'll.  I completed 3 months in the mission last week and to celebrate I ate a delicious churasco.    Hoy día we went up to the Morro that is here in Arica and that was just fantastic.  It had some great views but I also realized how brown it is here.  There really is a limited amount of green.      I learned a lot about patience this week with myself.  I have noticed that I am still in the beginning of the mission and there is time.  I received a really personal impression from the Spirit during this week and that has given me a lot of comfort and peace.  My testimony of the fact that God knows us and helps us as we strive to develop and learn more has grown so much since coming out.  It isn´t always easy, but when it is easy I get complacent, and that is not why we are here.  We are here to grow and progress!  We ha...

January 8 - January 14, 2019

Well, the thing is that the weeks just pass by so quickly that I really honestly don't remember a whole lot.  Something cool this week is that we have a new schedule where we eat lunch at 1 instead of 2 and we do practices and study from 2-3 and then idioma ( language study) from 3-330.  It makes everything flow a lot smoother and I like it.  We found 56 new investigators this week. but only 2 came to church :(  Thats the hardest part to get people to fulfill on their commitments.  But it is part of the fun.     I also am now able to write a little bit more in my journal.  I had an interview with Presidente this week and it was really good.  Elder Baines is super good, and we get along well. We decided to hike the anchor today for preparation day.  You can't really see it in any of the photos. It's like the Y of Antofagasta but it really only took like 30 minutes to get up there.
