Oct. 24 -October 30, 2017 Week 11

Hello  all.

It has been quite the week.  I had the chance to do everything as the penultimate week of my training.  Next week we have cambios and there is a chance that I may get transferred.  Who knows where.  The only thing is if I move, I have to leave a lot of the food I bought today in the Pension.   I did buy peanut butter today and it is very expensive.  I will be taking that in my suitcase but the rest will stay.  We are working super hard this week to do all we can to leave the sector in a good place if we leave.  

Today for Pday we went to go see the Mummies that are here in a museum.  Apparently they are the oldest in the World.  Who knew?  It was actually nice to go see them because the museum is more up in the valley and there is actually a lot more green there.  It didnt feel like we were in the desert anymore.    This week we also finished teaching a family for baptism next Saturday and afterwards we got to see and hold the llama that they had purchased that week.  I forgot my camera that day so apologies in advance.  Also, Halloween isnt that big of a thing here so thats too bad.

I am happy with the progress I made this week.  I really focused on teaching people and not lessons, and the Spirit was so much more powerful.  I am really grateful for that.  We are teaching this guy that is trying to overcome his addiction to drugs and he actually came to church this week!  We had knocked on his door and waited for like 20 minutes the morning of church but he wasn't answering the door.  As we were walking down the street, we heard someone yell, but saw nobody, so we continued walking.  Then we turned around again and it was the dude! Little miracles help me feel the Spirit and have joy.  I really don't feel any greater happiness on the mission that when an investigator comes to church or accepts commitments.

Oct. 3 -Oct. 10 Week 8

Hello Everyone       I have had a great week and I hope it was the same for ya'll.  I completed 3 months in the mission last week and to celebrate I ate a delicious churasco.    Hoy día we went up to the Morro that is here in Arica and that was just fantastic.  It had some great views but I also realized how brown it is here.  There really is a limited amount of green.      I learned a lot about patience this week with myself.  I have noticed that I am still in the beginning of the mission and there is time.  I received a really personal impression from the Spirit during this week and that has given me a lot of comfort and peace.  My testimony of the fact that God knows us and helps us as we strive to develop and learn more has grown so much since coming out.  It isn´t always easy, but when it is easy I get complacent, and that is not why we are here.  We are here to grow and progress!  We ha...

January 8 - January 14, 2019

Well, the thing is that the weeks just pass by so quickly that I really honestly don't remember a whole lot.  Something cool this week is that we have a new schedule where we eat lunch at 1 instead of 2 and we do practices and study from 2-3 and then idioma ( language study) from 3-330.  It makes everything flow a lot smoother and I like it.  We found 56 new investigators this week. but only 2 came to church :(  Thats the hardest part to get people to fulfill on their commitments.  But it is part of the fun.     I also am now able to write a little bit more in my journal.  I had an interview with Presidente this week and it was really good.  Elder Baines is super good, and we get along well. We decided to hike the anchor today for preparation day.  You can't really see it in any of the photos. It's like the Y of Antofagasta but it really only took like 30 minutes to get up there.

February 25, 2019 - March 11, 2019

Sorry to always be writing emails that are not terribly detailed.  I have been super tired this past week.  It was really good but crazy. Got to go on several intercambios this week and I made a goal to try to take a picture on each one but I wasn't super great at remembering so that's what the selfies are. We were also super blessed to baptize Marleny and her family.  It was a close small service that was one to remember.  It was a miracle to watch because it was just a ton of resistencia with her situation but we saw miracles. On Sunday night we did a zone attack in one of the sectors that are by the beach so that is that photo.  It was a little overcast and not a lot of gente, but we did contact this really cool Brazilian guy.  We have a Brazilian elder in our zone and we are always trying to talk with him in Portugese.  I am not to good at remembering stuff but it's common to here in the zone Duda bain (All Good) Sorry to all those that sp...
